It was not what we expected. Visited: May 2008

We had heard great things about Windjammer Landing. However, when we got here, we ran into some problems.

1. Travelers cheques: We booked through Expedia, and decided to pay the all-inclusive with travelers cheques in person. It seems St. Lucian banks give businesses a hard time if the signature is not spot on.

I don't know about you, but not every single one of my signatures look identical - especially when you're signing 24 pieces of paper in one sitting. So, Windjammer scrutinized every pen stroke to match signatures. It took an hour and a half just to check in! Use a credit card or cash!

2. Comfort: It was just too rustic. If you are in for the night and want to watch some TV before dozing off - forget it. The TV was in the living area where there was no AC. So, it was too hot. Also, there were holes in the walls, so bugs and creatures you only see on the Discovery Channel can come into your villa. Insect repellent is a must!

3. Accessibility and convenience: The resort was on a mountainside, and was beautiful. However, it was slightly annoying having to call a shuttle for pick up just to go eat, and then get taken back to the villa. Unless you are in excellent shape, trying to walk up and down steep hills could put you in the hospital!

4. The food: I have had better food at IHOP. There was not much local cuisine available.

5. Packages: We found that all-inclusive was not worth it. If you aren't a heavy drinker, and not big on water sports - don't get it.

However, all in all, the country and the people were beautiful. We won't be going back any time soon, though.

Windjammer Landing exceeded my expectations! Visited: April 2007

This resort was absolutley lovely. All of the rooms were on a hillside with sweeping ocean views. The people were extremely friendly and very helpful.

The resort had organized tours, which I highly recommend. The land and sea tour was the best, as you ride in an open air jeep through villages and the rainforest. The guide was very informative and fun.

The restaurants on the resort were also very good. If you decide to eat outside the resort, go to the Coal Pot.

You won't be disappointed at the Windjammer Landing!

The people of this resort and island were wonderful and will make the stay worth it. We honeymooned here recently, and we will be back! - maybe even as soon as January.

The two-bedroom villa was incredibly spacious, and the views were phenomenal. Do go for the upgrade on the all-inclusive. I also recommend you take a snorkeling trip in the south, or on the trip to Martinique, as the water here is a bit silty for a clear view of the wonderful creatures.

It was amazing! Visited: June 2006

We had such a wonderful experience at Windjammer Landing. Upon arrival, I had forgotten the check-in slip that was sent to me that I was supposed to print. It didn't matter, because the staff at Windjammer was very courteous and willing to help find everything for us.

This helpfulness and kindness was around us the entire honeymoon, and made it pleasant and safe for us. The resort was also extremely beautiful!

This was my first time out of the US, and my wife's first time to an exotic island/resort, so we both were amazed by the beauty of not only the resort, but the entire island.

Our one-bedroom villa was outstanding. I had never seen such a more wide open, yet secluded and relaxed place before. Every morning and night was like heaven. Also, waking up to the sun rising and shining through our windows, and hearing the wind blow through the trees was amazing and peaceful.

In addition, the service we received each day from the entire staff at Windjammer was more than we could have possibly imagined.

From the shuttle service to our suite ambassador (Dawn); and from the servers in the restaurants to the activity staff; they were nothing but polite and fun to be around, making every thing we did a great experience.

Our favorite thing that was available to us was the service while on the beach. Being able to relax on the beach or in the water, the wait staff was available and ready to cater to our hearts' desire by bringing us our food and cocktails wherever we were. It was heaven!

We were also able to participate in several of the activities that were available: The Jammers Day Sail to Soufriere (all day sail, trip to volcano, lunch at cocoa plantation), the Sunset Cruise (our favorite), paddle boats, a couples massage, snorkeling, and romantic dinners galore!

We also really enjoyed the rainforest biking tour. It was tons of fun and most informative. Albert, our tour guide, was the best! He was so much fun to be around, and there was never a dull moment with him.

A huge thank you to the staff at Windjammer Landing for making our honeymoon an unforgettable time!

This was my best vacation to date. Visited: May 2005

The check-in process was very good - no stress. Everything I requested before we arrived was verified upon arrival. The staff greeted us as soon as we got out of the taxi, showed us to a seat, and introduced us to our ambassador. After our charge card was swiped, we were shown to our villa.

In a word, the villa was "amazing". It had a terrace that ran the entire length of the villa. It included a plunge pool and a million dollar view from every room.

The restaurants were all very good, with Papa Don's the best in my opinion.

They had four pools, but we did not use them. The beach was very nice and functional. The water was clear and lukewarm all the time.

Their shuttle service was excellent. They always picked us up a few minutes after we called.

Overall, the facility was very beautiful and very well maintained.
Also, the staff was pleasant and very professional. Check-out was perfect, and only took ten minutes.

We plan on returning this November or December.

Windjammer Landing offers charm, calm and paradise for adults and kids. Visited: December 2004

Windjammer Landing offered very nice, confortable villas (we had a two-bedroom) with privative pool. All was clean, and very beautiful!

The choice of restaurants was good. We preferred "Papa Don Taverna". It was better for European tastes.

There were a lot of water activities included in the all-inclusive Plan. We thought the all-inclusive plan was the best solution.

The staff was very polite. Also, everything seemed calm and it was a veritable paradise for children.

It was necessary to call a shuttle to go to the beach. This was a small inconvenience, but it allowed more intimacy and calm on the property.

Wife was bitten by bat and had to get rabies shots Visited: August 2003
Posted by rephil
Windjammer was more than a nightmare. On our last night, my wife who is 10 weeks pregnant was bitten by a bat on her foot as we slept in our standard type room. The bat most likely got in through the open air bathrooms which have no windows. My wife and I both have to get rabies shots now and there is no way to tell if our unborn child will be affected. Protect your family and stay away from Windjammer. We are getting legal advice.

Windjammer landing was a perfect place to stay.

My wife and I were upgraded on arrival to a one-bedroom villa in the Island Rooms area. The rooms were superb. Although we used the all-inclusive plan, the kitchen had everything we would need if we were room-only.

The lounge was a nice size opening out onto the balcony with great views over the Caribbean with superb sunsets. The bathroom was a good size complete with shower, and the bedroom was the best we have stayed in with a high ceiling and a king size bed. There was a door opening onto the balcony also from here.

The restaurants were all top notch with the Dragonfly supplying beautiful a la carté food, our favorite place was Jammers bar with a great view of the beach and sea. They also had great food here and a happy hour.

All the staff was so friendly and could not do enough for us.

We took the "Brig Unicorn" tall ship from Rodney Bay down the west coast to Soufries where we were taken to see the volcano and Diamond Waterfall - an all day trip not to be missed with lunch and rum punch included.

It was quite simply a superb holiday!

We had an absolutely perfect honeymoon. Visited: October 2002
Posted by tiners506
My husband and I decided to honeymoon at the Windjammer Landing. We had seen the pictures online and really liked it. When we got here, our expectations were highly exceeded.

The villas made everything so personal. They were so nicely decorated, and the staff came everyday to clean for us, so it really didn't have a chance to get dirty. The beds and pillows were suprisingly comfortable, and I am very picky about my bed and pillows!

The view from the room was absolutely outrageous.

We had a candle lit dinner for two out on our balcony, and it was so romantic. We thought a candlelit dinner for two would include room service and a candle, but they actually sent a private chef and private waiter to our room to prepare our food and serve it to us!

The kitchens were fully equipped.. I didn't really think they would be, but everyhing we needed was in there! We had an all-inclusive plan, so we didn't need the kitchen, but it's just a nice side note for you. There was also a good grocery store near by at the Rodney Bay Mall for anyone roughing it.

Our private plunge pool was great.

There was so much to do at the resort, and off the resort. They also had a nice spa here.

When we went, the shuttle never took more than 5 minutes to get to us. Typically, we called and went outside just in time to catch it.

We highly recommend the staff and the food.

The only negatives we encountered were low water pressure for the shower (but atl east it got hot); and in the low season, not all of the restaurants were open at the same time.. you typically only had two to choose from at a time.

A wonderful honeymoon! Visited: July 2002

We had a fabulous time! We were upgraded to a two-bedroom suite on our arrival.

We had a private plunge pool which was excellent. The villa was beautiful and had more room than we needed. There were multiple balconies with lounge chairs and beautiful sceneries. Plus, there was plenty of privacy.

We went on many excursions around the island. Our favorite was the Jeep Safari. You travel all over the island. We snorkeled, walked through the rain forest, visited a mill, ate fresh fruit,
and we learned the history of the island. Our tour guides were wonderful.

At the hotel, our favorite meal was breakfast. Our only complaint, was at one restaurant, we were served tuna that was not cooked all the way. However, they offered us a new choice of meals that was much better.

You don't have to do the all-inclusive, there is a store with plenty of items to choose from including sandwich items, champagne, wine, snacks, etc.

We didn't have any problems with bugs. As for the birds, don't keep your food sitting out. We found the birds entertaining. They were small and they preferred equal packets over other sugars! We saw a few pick through some sugars when no one was looking and they always picked the blue packets.

We loved our stay and would definitely go back again.

It was Paradise! Visited: April 2002

My husband and I decided to get married at Windjammer after hearing about it on the radio. After looking it up in a travel magazine, we knew it was right for us.

It couldn't have been more perfect! They took care of everything, and my flowers were so amazing - there was no way I could have had a bouquet like that at home. We chose the traditional St.Lucia wedding cake, and it was absolutely delicious, although you must like rum.

We had choices of where we wanted to have the ceremony, so we picked the gazebo overlooking the sea. It was decorated with local flowers as was the shuttle that took my maid of honor and me to the wedding. We hired a steel drum band to play, and invited people we met at the resort since we didn't bring any family or friends.

The day trips we took were out of this world, the food was terrific - especially the breakfasts, and the villa we had provided the most spectacular view of the sea and surrounding landscape.

We can't say enough about the people of St. Lucia, at the resort or outside of it, they were like relatives, and they made our trip what it was.The day we had to leave I actually cried I was so upset. Never had we experienced a trip where nothing went wrong and everything was perfect. The only complaint we had was that we should have stayed longer than a week.

Our fifth visit to Windjammer was as excellent as before! Visited: March 2002
Posted by ijpowell
My husband and I have just spent our fifth holiday at Windjammer and had a wonderful time once again. I cannot understand anybody having any complaints about the resort at all.

On previous holidays here, we had our son with us so had a two bedroom villa. It was absolutely lovely with a plunge pool and beautiful views from the open terrace.

This year, just the two of us went. We had a one bedroom villa high up the hill above Papa Dons. This was also a lovely villa. It was very well equipped with fantastic views again. The bonus was that it was a good walk uphill to the villa, so it kept us fit (even after all the sumptuous meals we had in the restaurants). However, shuttles were always on hand if we needed them.

The staff was, as always, extremely helpful and very pleasant people to get to know. Many have been here for some years now and have become good friends with us. It was lovely to see Marie again in Jammers, Gordon down at the water sports, Mario, and so many others whom we have got to know over the years. We shall certainly be returning for another Windjammer holiday.

Our family owns a villa at Windjammer, and I know everyone here as we come here a lot.

It is a brilliant hotel with amazingly friendly staff and wonderful service. It is paradise and is perfect for people my age (16+). It is the most relaxing place you could ever stay.

An excellent holiday. Visited: August 2001

I had an excellent holiday this year in Barbados and St Lucia. St. Lucia is a beautiful, lush island and Windjammer Landing is a great resort.

The staff was quite friendly and the accommodations were good. Although, you might not like it if you don't like bugs and birds, as the villas are mainly open and the bugs etc. can therefore get in. Actually, the most annoying thing about the resort was the shuttle service, as you often have to wait 15-20 minutes for one to arrive.

The water sports were excellent and the guys were really friendly, although sometimes over-friendly.

I would recommend Windjammer Landing, but if you have any disabilities you might find getting around the resort hard, as there are many steps.

A truely tropical paradise with stunning views. Visited: May 2001

My husband and I had a wonderfully relaxing time at Windjammer Landing in a spacious One-bedroom Villa, which had its own very-private plunge pool with views to die for, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

The food was great, with good nighttime entertainment. We enjoyed lazing on the beach, and although the resort is a haven for families we found that with its good-sized beach and plentiful grounds, we weren't bothered at all by noisy kids!

Perfect accommodations for our needs. Visited: April 2001
Posted by Cleeclub
Spend a week at Windjammer in a 3bdrm/3ba unit and you won't have any complaints. We requested a Villa in advance with screens, in a location convenient to the pool and main areas. The friendly staff met all of our requests. Our Villa was clean, comfortable and bug free. The plunge pool was an unusual treat for the kids. All of the appliances in the kitchen seemed to be fairly new and in excellent working order.

For the most part, the food was good. We weren't expecting top-notch cuisine, and were pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be better than anticipated. The beach was nice, with plenty of chairs and towels—even during the peak of spring break season.

Windjammer seemed to be the place for evening entertainment, with various steel bands, jazz, a Caribbean Night, etc. This resort was good for families with a very accommodating staff, in a nice setting. We had a lovely time.

Not what we expected. Visited: March 2001
Posted by deichel
Windjammer Landing was not what we expected. The beach and common areas were
great, but the accommodations were not good. We had reserved a 4-bedroom villa with
plunge pool. What we received was a 3-bedroom villa with an additional room if you
walked through the bottom bedroom. They did credit us for the 3-bedroom, but the
rooms, especially the bathrooms, were extremely rustic. They did not have screens, the
kitchen and living room only had bars on the windows, which allowed birds as well as
bugs to enter the room.

If you want a nice beach and kids camp and don't mind the rustic atmosphere--it is fine.

Be sure to check your bill when checking out. We had the "Bring the Family Package"
that included breakfast and dinner, kids’ camp and 35 hours of daytime nanny service,
however, all drinks including soda and iced tea, were not included.

A most enjoyable vacation Visited: January 2001
Posted by caa
Our week at the Windjammer was extrordinary! We had a deluxe room with an ocean view. It came with a lovely balcony and a great view of the beach, ocean and incredible sunsets. A short walk along lushly landscaped paths and we were on the beach. This was really the hub of the resort with 3 of the 4 restaurants grouped around the pool and a few steps to the beach.

The beach was lovely, just pull up a lounge chair to a palm tree and you are set for the day. Every so often a delightful young man would stop by and ask "Are you O.K.? Would you like anything to drink?" He would take your order, and deliver it a short time later with a smile and a sense of humor.

The staff were great! Everyone we encountered was gracious, accommodating and had a warm sense of humor. I have never been so pampered in my life, and in such a beautiful, lush environment.

While my husband was disappointed in the choice of food (hence the 4-stars instead of 5), I enjoyed it immensely. Especially good was the grilled fish at Jammers, the sumptuous breakfasts at Josephine's and the many Italian dishes at Papa Don's. All the restaurants were open with ocean views and breezes. Papa Don's, located on a hillside was the most spectacular of all. Hills a problem? Never! Shuttles, similar to large golf carts were there to take you anywhere you wanted to go and you never had to wait more than a few minutes.

As senior citizens, my husband and I did not take advantage of the more strenuous water sports but did enjoy the snorkeling and kayaking as well as the swimming and relaxing under a palm tree with our favorite drink in hand. We would love to return!
